Respondent Profile

The 10 delivery riders interviewed include both full-time and part-time workers based in Taipei, New Taipei, and Taichung. Their tenure ranges from six months to three years.

Monthly Income Distribution

Part-time (15–20 hours per week on average)

Delivery riders in this category typically take home between 15,000 and 25,000 yuan a month. That might not sound like much, but since it’s a part-time job, the hourly wage works out to about 200–300 yuan, which is actually better than many other part-time jobs.

Full-time (40–60 hours per week on average)

When it comes to income from full-time running, the gap really widens:

• Average salary: 40,000–50,000 yuan per month
• Top Performer: 60,000–70,000 yuan per month
• Legendary: Over 80,000 yuan per month (rare, but it does happen)

Key Factors Affecting Revenue

• Region:Both the volume and price per unit in the Taipei-New Taipei area are higher than in other counties and cities.
• Time Slot Selection:The longer you stay online during peak hours, the higher your earnings will be
• Number of platforms:Earning a steady income is much easier when you use 2–3 platforms at the same time than when you use just one.
• Familiarity with the terrain:The more familiar you are with an area, the more efficient you’ll be

My conclusion

Strictly speaking, there is no upper limit to a delivery driver’s earnings—the more deliveries they make, the higher their income should be, in theory. But this job has its own bottlenecks: time is limited, physical stamina is limited, and the platform’s algorithms can change at any moment.
