Are delivery tips being skimmed as a commission or used to offset wages? First, let’s clarify these three types of payments.

Tips from customers, the base pay listed by the platform, and promotional rewards should be clearly distinguished in your account records. If your base pay happens to decrease right after a tip is credited to your account, don’t assume everything is fine just because the total amount remains the same.

Official Statement

In its announcement regarding the subsidiary regulations for standardized contracts, the Ministry of Labor has classified the deduction of delivery riders’ tips and arbitrary reductions in compensation as prohibited unfair contract terms. The guidelines on compensation protection also specify that bonuses must not be included when verifying the base compensation for a single order; when verifying income, the fields must first be separated.

Create a one-to-one correspondence

Save the order number, customer tip field, base pay, bonus, and final payout amount. If the platform displays this information differently on various settlement pages, capture both the screen at the time of dispatch and the screen after settlement.

How to Ask a Question

Use a single order to ask the platform whether the full tip amount is paid to the delivery driver, how each field is calculated, and the reasons for any deductions. If the response is unclear, file a complaint through the public grievance system; do not generalize the platform’s practices based on just a few orders’ total earnings.
